Why is Koivu signing in Edm? Did Holland hire PT Barnum to come up with a pitch for him? There has to be a more realistic 3C option out there. |

The same reason he'd sign on just about any team that'd sign him? A clear role on a team that needs him. Not saying I think it's likely but he's hardly afraid of winters given he's from Finland and has played his whole career in Minny.
Otherwise, J Larsson does the trick while probably being an easier sell. |

I'd swap out Bjork for Studnicka personally. |

As you said, Boston would likely need to be "blown away" in an offer for Debrusk, and I don't feel Klefbom gets it done. Maybe if he didn't have such a history of injuries this would be closer. (?) Besides, as nice as it would be to add Debrusk or a winger of his ilk, this leaves a tremendous hole for Edmonton to fill . . . or (dread) more minutes to a guy like Russell and/or asking too much from Nurse and Jones, methinks. |

Over value Alex Chaisson much!
He makes 2.15 MILLION.
Half his 24 pts (13) were on a power play driven by the best player in the game.
There will be many players available at half his cap hit that can do the same thing or more.
Sean your rose colored glasses are in a league of their own man! |

Would you trade Oscar Klefbom and Alex Chiasson in exchange for Jake Debrusk and Anders Bjork?
Klefbom is a solid player and I do believe he remains the Oilers best all-round defenceman and he is on a very team friendly deal for the next three seasons at 4.167 million per. If Edmonton trades Klefbom they immediately need to find a veteran replacement for him. - Sean
I'd try to get something more added on in that deal unless we know Debrusk would sign for a reasonable hit long term. Either a 2021 pick or some near-ready prospect (Lauzon, maybe?). |

This just in: LW with a career high 43 points is suddenly worth so much that the team sending a #3 LD on a nice 4.16mil contract is crazy to ask for something more in return |

~45 points and ~20 goal wingers with their own injury history really shouldn't command as much as people seem to think Debrusk should. |

Well Debrusk and Bjork is already something more in return. No one wants a 4th line winger making 2.15 million in this cap crunch unless you are sending a pick with him in the deal.
This blog values the oilers players like an over zealous minor hockey parent does a spoiled child.

And no one's giving up a #3 Dman on a very nice contract in this cap crunch without getting some real value back. And no, a ~20g, ~45p LW doesn't constitute enough value. Since the Oil can't afford both Debrusk's new contract AND Bjork's 1.6mil while only giving up Klefbom's 4.1mil, there's gotta be more cap going back to Boston.
Given your input here, you're clearly just as quick to overvalue players as you claim we are. |

Well I never proposed the trade. My point was that implying any sort of value on Chaisson in the flat cap era is ridiculous and frankly an Oiler spin. |

At what point did Sean or anyone else suggest he had anything but negative value? The point of his inclusion is he's a negative value that, along with Bjork's inclusion, helps balance the difference between Klefbom and Debrusk. |

What is the latest on Puljujarvi? Is there any hope that he might be back with the Oilers or are they still trying to trade him? I'm sure glad in that 2016 draft Chucky wasn't drafted by the Oilers at 4 and Canucks at 5. It seems both those Finns won't be any impact player in the NHL. |

If you trade Klefbom, may I introduce you to a Ghost? He may actually do good in a high tempo speed game.
